The Covert Agent: Wanderers star Oriol Riera offered lucrative Spanish deal

Western Sydney Wanderers striker Oriol Riera has caught the attention of a Spanish side chasing promotion and they are willing to hand over a decent sum to land his services in the new year.

The Covert Agent can reveal a Segunda club have tabled an offer to Riera and are prepared to pay just over AU $750,000 to bring him back to Spain.

Riera is off-contract with the Wanderers at the end of the season and the club might be tempted to cash in on a player they landed on a free transfer from Deportivo in July last year.

Western Sydney are however desperately short on strikers and would need to lock in a replacement before letting the Spaniard go.

The 32 year old scored 14 goals across 25 A-League appearances last season and has struck three times from five games to start this campaign.

Prior to arriving in Western Sydney last year, Riera had spent most of his career in Spain progressing through Barcelona's academy before spending time at a range of clubs including Alcorcon, Osasuna and Deportivo.

The striker admitted he turned down offers to return to Spain over the off-season, but is believed to still be considering this latest offer with the Wanderers claiming just one win from their first five games.
