ATK managed to a league double over Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL), beating John Gregory's men 2-1 and 3-2 respectively in the two fixtures.
Chennaiyin will seek revenge and if Gregory finally triumphs over Steve Coppell then the Marina Machans will be just a step away from lifting silverware.
But the task at hand will not be easy as ATK have been excellent throughout the tournament, with Manuel Lanzarote and Edu Garcia stepping upto the task. Balwant Singh is the latest to join the party after the Punjba-born striker netted a wonderful hat-trick against Delhi Dynamos to earn a 4-3 win for ATK.
Chennaiyin's defence cannot put a foot wrong as the attacking trio is in fine fettle and will need no second invitation to punish a lapse in concentration.
Anirudh Thapa will be key for Chennaiyin in midfield as the 21-year old will have the onus of containing Edu Garcia and dictating play. Against NorthEast United, Thapa was influential in the midfield and controlled the tempo of the match but it remains to be seen whether Gregory allows him the freedom to push forward against ATK.
Mailson Alves found the net in the quarterfinal and it will definitely boost his confidence as his duel will be against a striker who is coming off a hat-trick. It will be and interesting individual battle as Balwant and Alves are both phyiscally strong and good in the air.
