Salah's Liverpool drought set to end against Southampton

Not since joining Liverpool from Roma has Mohamed Salah gone so long without a goal for the Reds, but history suggests that barren run will end for the Egyptian against Southampton.

It's now been eight games in all competitions since Salah found the back of the net for Liverpool - his longest run since a 10 match streak with Roma at the tail end of 2015.

The Saints meanwhile are winless in their past five league matches against Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp's side also discovering new-found defensive resilience on the road this season.

Liverpool has conceded just nine goals across 16 away Premier League game this campaign, a feat matched only by Manchester City.

Though history is against Southampton, Ralph Hasenhuttl's side has finally found some form and are looking to claim a third consecutive win for the first time since May 2016.

Jurgen Klopp's men are ticking along even better, however, winning their past four matches in all competitions and losing just one match in 2019 to date.

As Liverpool desperately look to avoid any Premier League slip-ups, the Reds will be hoping Salah can once again step up in front of goal as he returns to haunts the Saints.
