On the night of Ronaldo's return: Al-Nassr thrash Al-Riyadh to reclaim their throne from Al-Hilal

Al-Nassr reclaimed top spot in the Saudi Roshn League from neighbours and traditional rivals Al-Hilal, thrashing their other neighbours Al-Riyadh on the night Cristiano Ronaldo returned.

The visitors beat hosts Al-Riyadh 4-0 today, Friday, at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in the Saudi capital, in the second round of the Roshn League.

Saudi defender Abdulelah Al-Amri opened the scoring in the 18th minute, heading home a corner delivered by Brazilian midfielder Angelo.

Angelo doubled the lead himself in the first minute of first-half stoppage time, turning in a low cross from French winger Kingsley Coman that Saudi striker Abdullah Al-Hamdan had missed.

Joao Felix made it three for the "Global" side in the 58th minute. The Portuguese star cut inside the penalty area and struck a low shot that goalkeeper Milan Borjan couldn't keep out.

Four minutes after the third goal, Al-Nassr's Australian manager Ange Postecoglou turned to his bench and brought on Cristiano Ronaldo for Abdullah Al-Hamdan.

It was Ronaldo's first appearance of the season. He had sat out the opening two matches, the 3-0 win over Al-Fateh in the first round of the Roshn League and the 4-1 win over Al-Diriyah in the round of 32 of the King's Cup.

He didn't have to wait long. Ronaldo grabbed his first goal of the season, and Al-Nassr's fourth of the night, in the 83rd minute, collecting a low cross from Ayman Yahya and turning it in with his left foot.

The win took Al-Nassr to 6 points and top of the Saudi Roshn League on goal difference, pushing Al-Hilal down to second.

Al-Riyadh, meanwhile, slipped to a second consecutive defeat. They sit 18th and bottom with no points.
