Red-hot Lewandowski to score for strong favourites Bayern Munich

German champions Bayern Munich will be looking pick up from where they left off in the league as they kickstart their 2019-20 Bundesliga campaign on Sunday at home against Hertha Berlin (AEST).

Bayern ended the 2018-19 season with 78 points, two more than runners up Borussia Dortmund. Hertha Berlin finished 11th on the table, with 43 points in their kitty.

Niko Kovac's team are the hot favourites for an opening day victory ($1.14), with an upset priced at $14 and a stalemate at $7.50. Interestingly, the German defending champions have not had it easy against Sunday's opponents. They have only won once in their last three outings against The Old Lady.

Bayern started their season with a German Super Cup loss to Borussia Dortmund but returned to winning ways against Energie Cottbus in a DFB Pokal tie. Their league form at the Allianz Arena, where they are unbeaten in 13 games, favours Kovac's men who are priced at a handicap deal of $2.40 to win the Bundesliga opener by more than two goals.

After receiving the honours for being the league's top scorer with 22 goals in 33 starts last season, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski is once again a hot favourite to find the net first at $2.88. He is also priced strongly to score at any point in the game at $1.30 and a first-day hat-trick is being traded at $7.

Former Germany U-17 striker Jann Fiete-Arp, who joined the Bayern ranks in the summer, is tipped at $2.25 to get on the scoresheet while fellow new recruit and former Wellington Phoenix forward Sarpreet Singh is at $2.75 to score on his Bundesliga debut.

At the back, Manuel Neuer is set to return to goalkeeping duties in the league and is touted to start his campaign with a clean sheet at $1.92. The odds of Hertha Berlin keeping a clean sheet are at $10.50.

A high-scoring fixture, with over 2.5 goals, is priced at $1.36, with the hosts' chances of scoring more than the 2.5 goals rated at $1.72. Bayern are also tipped to score the first goal at $1.17 and their opponents are priced at $4.50 for the same. The Old Lady can be backed to be winning at the break or the full-time whistle at $7.
