Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that Antonio Pintus, the fitness coach at Real Madrid, believes that the Portugal superstar is a “real psycho”.

Ronaldo is known for his voracious appetite for gym work and was rewarded for his industry by winning the Ballon d’Or, which was announced on Thursday.

“The fitness coach at Real, Antonio Pintus, jokes that I’m a real psycho,” Ronaldo admitted to France Football.

“He’s never seen someone like me, in terms of the volume of work I do. When I get into the weights room I don’t speak to anyone. I’m only concentrated on the job I have to do.

“I know I put myself under additional pressure but I don’t regret being like that. Maybe it’s good to be a little more relaxed, but this is my ethic for my life.

"I’m not going to change after 15 years of my career. I wouldn’t have won everything if I had not been so insatiable.”

Ronaldo claimed his fifth Ballon d’Or on Thursday, drawing him level with great rival Lionel Messi of Barcelona in those stakes.
