Premier League 2021-22 Season Betting: Manchester City favourites to win title again

After lifting the Premier League trophy for the third time in four years last season, Manchester City are once again the team to beat as we head into the upcoming campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side strolled to the title in comfortable style last season, thanks largely to an impressive run of 15 consecutive wins between December and March.

Having broken the English transfer record to add Jack Grealish to their already star-studded squad and with talk of Harry Kane potentially to follow, it is no surprise to see bet365 install Man City as 4/6 (1.67) favourites in the ante-post market.

Liverpool’s attempts to defend their title were hampered by an injury crisis that saw them play out the majority of the campaign without a senior centre-back, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all suffering season-ending injuries.

With those three all back fit alongside new signing Ibrahima Konate to shore up the backline, the Reds can be backed at 5/1 (6.0) to climb back atop the perch they scaled in record-breaking fashion back in 2020.

However, with question marks remaining over how quickly the likes of Van Dijk will return to top form, Jurgen Klopp’s men may not inspire too much confidence at that price.

In contrast, Chelsea could be an attractive proposition at those same 5/1 (6.0) odds, having found a new lease of life after Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard in January.

On a high after beating Manchester City to Champions League glory in the final, the Blues look set to mount a serious title challenge and will be a force to reckon with should Romelu Lukaku hit the ground running on his return to Stamford Bridge.

Despite finishing comfortably ahead of both Liverpool and Chelsea in second place last season, Manchester United are less fancied at 8/1 (9.00) to claim their first Premier League title since 2013.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has enjoyed a productive summer in the transfer market, bringing in Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane as he aims to bring silverware back to Old Trafford following last season’s Europa League final disappointment.

With inspirational captain Kane looking to leave the club and new boss Nuno Espirito Santo adjusting to a new role, Tottenham are a distant 40/1 (41.0) shot to win an unlikely title on the back of last season’s disappointing seventh-placed finish.

Having finished just behind their north London rivals in eighth, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are an even longer 50/1 (51.0) shot to win their first top-flight crown since 2004.

Unlucky to drop out of the Champions League spots on the final day of the season, Leicester are on offer at 50/1 (51.0) to build on their first FA Cup victory by matching their famous 2015-16 season and lifting the title in 2022.

Rafa Benitez is on offer at 100/1 (101.0) to pull off a feat even more miraculous than Istanbul 2005 by leading Everton to the title following his controversial appointment, while Leeds 125/1 (126.0) , West Ham 150/1 (151.00) and Aston Villa 200/1 (201.00) are all huge outsiders despite exceeding expectations in 2020-21.
