Pochettino shortens in Premier League sack race, Liverpool still not title favourites

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is under pressure to keep his job, according to Sportsbet punters, with the Argentine shortening dramatically in the Premier League's sack race.

With Spurs being knocked out of the Carabao Cup third round by League Two side Colchester United on penalties, Pochettino has come in from $25 to $10 in the odds for next manager dismissed.

Liverpool are still not Premier League title favourites despite opening up an early five point lead on champions Manchester City at the top of the table.

The Reds have come into 2.00 after winning every Premier League game so far, but are still adrift of Man City's 1.67 odds.

Newcastle United's dire start to the season has been recognised with the Geordies now favourites to be relegated at $2.10, with Aston Villa (2.20) and Watford (2.50) also in the frame to go down.

Lionel Messi's surprise victory in FIFA's The Best men's player award has seen the Barcelona star crunch into 3.25 to win the Ballon d'Or.

But Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk (1.30) is still the hot favourite to clinch the honour, to go along with his UEFA player of the year award.
