Paris Saint-Germain backed to still shine without Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain will want nothing less than all three points when they take on FC Metz in an away Ligue 1 clash on Saturday (4.45am AEST).

Thomas Tuchel and his men have already been rocked early in their title defence after a shock 2-1 loss to Rennes but they bounced back strongly with a crushing 4-0 win over Toulouse last week to reaffirm their credentials.

PSG are the clear favourites ($1.36) in Saturday’s clash with a victory for Metz ($7.50) or a draw ($4.50) both deemed unlikely by Sportsbet.

The reigning champion's recent 4-0 victory over Toulouse came at a mighty cost however with star striker Kylian Mbappe now facing a month on the sidelines with an injury.

With Neymar’s future in Paris in doubt and veteran forward Edinson Cavani also out injured, PSG will be looking to Argentine winger Angel Di Maria and Spanish attacker Pablo Sarabia to step up.

A winning margin of one goal for PSG will fetch excellent returns ($3.50) along with two-goal ($4) and three-goal ($6.50) margins.

Metz started their Ligue 1 campaign with a draw against Strasbourg followed by a 3-0 thrashing of AS Monaco. However, they had to contend with a 3-0 defeat themselves in their most recent encounter against Angers and they'll be itching to get back to winning ways.

The comprehensive win over Monaco proved that Frederic Antonetti’s men have the tools to surprise PSG at home and a shock 1-0 win for the hosts on Saturday will yield substantial returns ($21).  A drab 0-0 stalemate ($15), on the other hand, will not be the worst of results for Metz and one they will gladly take with both hands.
