Manchester United are looking for their first away win since March 6 when they travel to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
The famous 3-1 victory at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League was the last time Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were victorious outside of Old Trafford, with the Red Devils losing six of their away games since then.
Newcastle, too, are in dire need of points, with Steve Bruce’s men second from bottom in the Premier League with just one win to their name this season.
Newcastle vs Manchester United Latest Odds
Despite their away troubles, bet365 go 17/20 (1.85) that Manchester United pick up their third win of the season at St. James’ Park on Sunday.
Newcastle have only won three of their last 31 fixtures against the Red Devils, losing 21 of those, and are 7/2 (4.50) to take the points. The draw is a 5/2 (3.50) shot.
Newcastle vs Manchester United Team News
Paul Pogba is set to miss out for the Red Devils with an ankle injury. Jesse Lingard injured his hamstring in United’s 0-0 draw at AZ on Thursday and will be sidelined along with Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Florian Lejeune and Matt Ritchie remain out for Newcastle but Dwight Gayle could play some part after returning to training. Jonjo Shelvey and Matty Longstaff are also in line to feature.
Newcastle vs Manchester United Preview
Both sides are in dire need of points but United’s away record makes it difficult to back them, whilst the Magpies’ run of one win in their last seven Premier League games poses a similar conundrum.
Instead, opposing goals could be the way to go considering the Red Devils have netted just nine times this season – with just two of those coming away from Old Trafford.
Newcastle have their own problems in front of goal and are currently the joint-lowest scorers in the Premier League with four goals. Just one of those has come at St. James’ Park, where Bruce’s men have conceded just twice.
