Elsewhere, Ander Capa hit a stunning volley just two minutes from time to give Athletic a 2-1 win over Levante in Bilbao.
The most dramatic winner of the weekend, however, arrived in el Gran Derbi as Luuk De Jong struck to give Sevilla a 2-1 win at fierce rivals Betis.
