Luca Zidane, son of Real Madrid manager Zinedine, has been handed his first-team debut in the club’s final La Liga match of the season.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper replaced Keylor Navas in goal against Villarreal, before the Costa Rica international likely returns for the club’s Champions League final against Liverpool on May 26.

Kiko Casillas was named on the bench.

Zidane will be in goal with a full-strength Madrid line-up in front of him, as Cristiano Ronaldo returned from injury to lead the line alongside Gareth Bale. Isco, Sergio Ramos and Toni Kroos also began the match in the XI for Los Blancos.

The second son of the Madrid manager, Zidane has spent the season with Real Madrid Castilla in the Segunda B, Spain’s third division.

The youngster has been named in the matchday 18 before, but had yet to appear in an official competition for the La Liga giants, having featured in friendlies.

Zidane, who just turned 20 on May 13, has spent the entirety of his youth career with Real Madrid. He started 13 games this year for the Segunda B side, and eight the previous campaign.

He has also appeared at the international youth levels with France 29 times coming at the U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-20s for Les Bleus.

Luca is the second of Zidane’s sons to play for Madrid's first team. Enzo, a 23-year-old midfielder, played in a Copa Del Rey match last season, though he was sold to Deportivo Alaves last summer. Enzo has since moved to Swiss club Lausanne Sport, where he has played in 16 games and scored two goals since January.

The goalkeeper also has two younger brothers, Elayz and Theo, who are both in Real Madrid’s youth system.
