Argentina set to offer Scaloni permanent job

Argentina are set to offer interim boss Lionel Scaloni the job as permanent head coach.

Scaloni has been in charge of the team since August and has presided over six friendly matches thus far.

He has overseen four wins in those matches, with two victories over Mexico and one apiece over Iraq and Guatemala, as well as a draw with Colombia and a loss to Brazil.

Arsenal and Spurs to battle for Amiri

Arsenal and Tottenham are both chasing Hoffenheim midfielder Nadiem Amiri, according to Sport Bild.

The 22-year-old has yet to play this season as he recovers from a foot injury, but is still on the radar of several clubs across Europe. 

Amiri reportedly has a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for £15 million (€17m/$19m) this summer. 

PSG forward Weah in line for January loan

PSG and U.S. national team striker Timothy Weah could be set to leave the Ligue 1 champions on loan in the new year, report France Football (via Calciomercato).

Strasbourg, who are currently ninth in Ligue 1, are said to be interested in loaning Weah for the rest of the season.

The 18-year-old made his USMNT in March and scored his first Ligue 1 goal for PSG back in August.

PSG are said to be open to allowing Weah to leave in search of first team football for the second half of the season.

Magpies target January moves for winger and full-back

Newcastle are hoping to sign a winger and a full-back in January, according to Chronicle Live.

As always, Rafa Benitez must convince owner Mike Ashley to release some funds for transfers, but it's reported that the Magpies are well underway with their plans for the winter window.

The club are said to be looking into the possibility of signing Atlanta forward Miguel Almiron, but it's claimed that a winger and full-back cover feature more prominently on their list of priorities.

Hughes brushes off sack rumours

Southampton boss Mark Hughes says speculation that he could be sacked is like "water off a duck's back" for him.

Paulo Sousa is among those to have been touted as a replacement for Hughes, with the Saints only off the bottom of the Premier League table on goal difference as it stands.

But the former Stoke City boss says he's not fazed by the talk surrounding his future.

"I think that is where the experience comes in, because it's water off a duck's back if I am honest," Hughes said in a press conference on Thursday.

Spurs identify Berge as Dembele replacement

Genk midfielder Sander Berge is among the players that Spurs are monitoring as a potential replacement for Mousa Dembele, report Estadio Deportivo.

Berge is also said to be a target for Sevilla and is apparently valued at around £11m ($14m) by the Belgian outfit.

The 20-year-old Norweigan international has been a regular for Genk this season and could be the ideal cut price replacement for Dembele, who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

The report claims that the relationship between Pogba and United boss Jose Mourinho is now beyond repair and that there is an acceptance Pogba will be leaving Old Trafford soon.

Santiago Bernabeu could host Boca v River final

The second leg of the Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate could be staged at the Santiago Bernabeu, according to AS.

The two clubs have accepted the proposal to play at Real Madrid's famous venue, with Argentine president Mauricio Macri also getting involved in the negotiations.

The match will be played on either December 8 or 9, with the scores currently locked at 2-2 after the first leg.

Success signs new long-term Watford contract
