Roma targeting Jamaica star Bailey

Roma are targeting Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey as a replacement for Stephan El Shaarawy, according to the Tuttomercatoweb.

The Serie A club had interest in the Jamaica international last summer but put a priority on Malcom instead, only to see him go to Barcelona.

However, Bailey is set to cost €40 million (£36m/$45m) and Roma cannot offer him Champions League football, which Leverkusen can. 

QPR defender loan at LAFC ends

Queens Park Rangers defender Niko Hamalainen has returned to the London club after his six-month loan at Los Angeles FC came to an end.

The 22-year-old defender made just three appearances for the MLS-leading LAFC, making one start for Bob Bradley's side.

“We would like to thank Niko for his contributions to our Club during the first half of the season, and wish him great success moving forward,” LAFC general manager John Thorrington said in a club statement.

Motherwell sign Wolves winger

Sherwin Seedorf has departed Wolves to sign with Motherwell, the Scottish Premiership club have announced.

The 21-year-old signed a two-year contract with Motherwell and will be hoping to break through after he did not make a first team appearance in two seasons with Wolves.

He joined Wolves in Feburary 2017 and spent spells on loan with Bradford in League One and Jumilla in the Spanish third division.

Porto want PSG goalkeeper Trapp

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Kevin Trapp is wanted by Porto, but the Portuguese side have yet to make an offer, according to le10sport.

Trapp spent last season on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt, but their current offer of €10 million (£9m/$11m) is not considered acceptable by PSG.

PSG are willing to let Trapp leave, but want a sufficient transfer offer and Porto have yet to make an official move for the keeper.

Moreno to join Villarreal

Former Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno is set to join La Liga side Villarreal on a five-year contract, reports ESPN.

Moreno is expected to undergo a medical in the coming hours as his five-year stay at Anfield was confirmed to have come to an end in June.

Villarreal beat out Moreno's old club, Sevilla, as well Barcelona, Real Sociedad, Aston Villa, Zenit and Marseille for the defender's services.

Tottenham appoint Mason as academy coach

Tottenham have appointed former midfielder Ryan Mason as an academy coach as part of a reshuffle of their backroom staff.

The 28-year-old, who retired from football in February 2018 after suffering a head injury, will take charge of the Under-19 side in the UEFA Youth League.

Mason, who worked with Spurs' academy staff last year while earning his coaching badges, spent 17 years at the club as a youngster and senior player.

Juve still short €10m of Ajax's De Ligt asking price

Juventus are confident of securing the signing of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax this week after agreeing a deal with the defender.

The Serie A champions have reached an agreement with the 19-year-old centre-back over a five-year contract that will see him earn €12 million (£11m/$13m) per season - €8m in basic salary with €4m in bonuses.

Juventus have offered Ajax €65m (£58m/$73m) for De Ligt - €55m (£49m/$62m) up front with €10m (£9m/$11m) in bonuses, but the total falls around €10m short of the Dutch champions' asking price.

Maguire ready to join Man Utd rebuild

The England international is flattered by the thought of spearheading a new United defence

Harry Maguire is “flattered” by Manchester United’s interest and is keen to be a part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Old Trafford rebuild, Goal has learned from sources close to the negotiations to transfer the England international.

Reports have suggested that United have offered around £70 million ($88m) for the boyhood United fan, but the Foxes board are hoping to attract an offer in excess of £80m ($100m) in order to allow Maguire to depart.

But Maguire is now welcoming the chance to join the club and is said to be flattered by the thought of spearheading Solskjaer's defensive ranks.

Tadic agrees new contract with Ajax

Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has claimed the club are happy to play the waiting game in their bid to sign Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku, but admitted they have another target in mind should a deal for the Belgian fall through.

And according to the Irish Independent, their alternative target remains former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

Marotta is quoted as saying: "He (Dzeko ) is an objective for us but both parties are trying to find the right deal."

Matthijs de Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola claims there was an agreement with Ajax for the defender to leave this summer if a suitable offer was made.

De Ligt is wanted by Juventus, but their reported opening offer of €50 million (£45m/$56m) without any add-ons was rejected by Ajax, who are keen to receive a bigger transfer fee.

Raiola has claimed that Ajax made a promise in 2018 that, if De Ligt stayed for one more season, he would be allowed to move on for the right price.
