Rhian Brewster admits he was prepared to leave Liverpool in order to fulfil his ambition.

In the end, the 18-year-old received the assurances he was looking for from Jurgen Klopp and committed to a new contract with the Reds.

A man who was linked with Arsenal and Tottenham told FourFourTwo: “I wanted to be playing first-team football and if that meant going, I’d have gone.

“But I felt it was right to stay at Liverpool and prove that I’m good enough to play in the first team.”

Alexandre Lacazette claims to have given no thought to leaving Arsenal, even when he was struggling for starts.

The French striker said after netting the winner for the Gunners in a 3-2 victory over Cardiff: "I don’t know who said this stuff, but I am at one of the best clubs in London and I am happy at Arsenal.

"It’s always going to be hard to be in the first XI at a club like this, but I always keep fighting and working."

Messi gives his take on Ronaldo transfer

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi considers Real Madrid to be “less good” without Cristiano Ronaldo, but admits Juventus have now become “clear favourites” for the Champions League.

The Argentine told Catalunya Radio: "Real Madrid are one of the best teams in the world and they have a great squad [but] it's evident that the absence of Ronaldo makes them less good."

Griffiths hoping for new Celtic deal

Leigh Griffiths is hoping to be offered a "long" contract at Celtic.

The Scotland international striker is already tied to the Hoops until 2021, but has been in talks regarding fresh terms.

He said: "It's been going on for a number of months now and these things aren't easy to deal with, so hopefully in a couple of weeks it will be done.

"I'm not very sure about the length of the contract. That's something my representatives in the club will deal with and hopefully it's a nice, long contract."

Henderson extends Liverpool deal

Leverkusen have lost to Borussia Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg in their first two games of the season, causing the board to panic.

Del Piero reacts to Ronaldo's lack of goals

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has warned Cristiano Ronaldo that Serie A can be difficult for forwards and that he must get used to playing in Italy's top flight.

Ronaldo joined Juve in the summer in a €100 million (£88m/$117m) deal although has thus far failed to find the net in the club's opening three league games of the season.

And Del Piero insists that it can be "complicated" for forward players as Italian teams focus on defending in numbers.

David De Gea is demanding a mammoth £350k-a-week from Manchester United if he is to commit his long-term future to the club, according to the Sun.

United are apparently playing hardball over De Gea's demands after Real Madrid signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea, thus ending their interest in the Spaniard.

But De Gea wants parity with the likes of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez as he seeks a new contract that matches his value to Jose Mourinho's side.

Villarreal join race for Marchisio

La Liga side Villarreal are the latest club to express an interest in signing free agent Claudio Marchisio, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian has left Juventus following the expiration of his contract, with Zenit thought to be the front runners to sign the 32-year-old.

The likes of Porto and Benfica have also been linked although Villarreal will apparently make their move having lost midfielder Santiago Caseres for around three months to a ligament injury.

RB Leipzig confirm two new January arrivals

RB Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick has confirmed the club have reached agreements over two January signings.

He would not reveal the players' identities, however, telling reporters: "We would have loved these players right now, but the clubs were not ready to hand them over."

German newspaper kicker reports that the two players are New York Red Bulls midfielder Tyler Adams and RB Salzburg's Amadou Haidara.

Messi tells Barca to sign a new right-back

Lionel Messi has informed Ernesto Valverde that he should look at improving the right side of Barcelona's defence when the January window opens, according to Don Balon.

Hoeness to PSG: Find a new sporting director

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness advised Paris Saint-Germain to replace sporting director Antero Henrique as the Bundesliga champions criticised the club's negotiations over Jerome Boateng.

Ligue 1 holders PSG tried to sign Germany international defender Boateng from Bayern but a deal never materialised before the transfer deadline, while Renato Sanches also reportedly emerged as a target.

PSG's pursuit – led by Henrique – left a sour taste in the mouth of Hoeness, who was scathing of the French club's sporting director.

Toure returns to Olympiacos

Olympiacos have completed the signing of Yaya Toure on a free transfer.

The Ivory Coast star has returned to the club he left for Monaco in 2006, five days after his agent confirmed he had completed a medical with an unnamed outfit in London.

Toure, who left Manchester City at the end of last season, says he turned down approaches from other teams in Europe, Asia and the United States in order to move back to Athens.

However, a last minute change of heart caused the deal to collapse

Juventus had agreed a fee for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic before eventually signing Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Calciomercato.

The Serie A champions had an €80 million (£72m/$93m) offer accepted, only to have Lazio send it back at the last moment, believing they could get more for Milinkovic-Savic.

However, Juventus never went back for another offer and instead signed Ronaldo, with Milinkovic-Savic then deciding to sign a new deal after no new offers came in.

Manuel Pellegrini is not in danger of being sacked by West Ham despite the club's winless start to the season, reports the Mirror.

Pellegrini oversaw a summer spending spree but has not backed that up with results, with the latest setback a defeat to Wolves.

His team was booed off the field after the defeat, but while a tough October fixture list awaits, West Ham's owners are not ready to cut bait with Pellegrini yet.

However, the Foxes will face competition from Southampton for Drinkwater's services.
