Southgate joins elite company

Count Rio Ferdinand among the big believers in this England team. "The scary thing for other teams is that they will be watching this performance and see there is more in the tank," he told BBC.&nbsp;"It is like they are purring and waiting to put their foot to the floor. "When I look at it from a defender's perspective for an opposing team it will be difficult whoever they put out as a front three. But the most frightening thing is at 75 minutes, who is coming off the bench? Marcus Rashford? Jude Bellingham? Jack Grealish? You don't want to see that. The depth is crazy. "This feels different [to past tournaments]. There is something here."

After scoring several goals from headers, Harry Maguire admitted that England have spent the last few days focusing on set pieces. He told BBC:&nbsp;"We spoke about being better on attacking set-plays. We've not scored one yet. We have two tonight. It was a great ball from Luke and I got a great connection. It is nice to chip in with a goal but the main thing is the victory."

A focus on set pieces

After being inserted into the lineup in place of the injured Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho says he felt more than ready to contribute. He said on BBC Radio 5 Live:&nbsp;"I'm feeling over the moon. Today was must-win and I'm just happy to have got an opportunity to play. This is a special moment for me. "Every time I haven't been playing I've been going back to training and been giving it everything. I've just been focusing on myself while I've been at England. I've always been ready if I needed to come on."

After his two-goal performance, Harry Kane was full of praise for Gareth Southgate. “Gareth has been brilliant," he said at a post-game press conference. How we got here

Alan Shearer is full of praise for Harry Kane, tonight's Man of the Match after a two-goal performance. "It is incredible the difference in Harry Kane," Shearer said on BBC One.&nbsp;"You can see he has a spring in his step. In the first minute of this game he picked up the ball 40 or 50 yard and pinged it and you thought, 'yes that will do'. Then he scored soon after."

A record-breaking run of clean sheets

Count Frank Lampard among those overjoyed with this England team. The former midfielder said on BBC One: "We did every bit of the job right today. We ticked every box. Gareth will sit there and say, 'What an evening'. "Now you have to fight overconfidence but now is the time for us to get excited about that and the time for them to keep their heads down and keep confident."

A long time coming for Henderson

He may be on a hat-trick, but Kane is coming off as Southgate looks to save him for the semis. Calvert-Lewin replaces him for his second appearance of the tournament.&nbsp;

Lots of changes for England, as Bellingham, Rashford and Trippier come on with Shaw, Sterling and Phillips making way here in the 65th minute.&nbsp;

Here come the substitutes

Another goal for England and it's Jordan Henderson! His first-ever goal for England! Ukraine have collapsed and given up another headed goal, with the Liverpool captain now flying in to score England's fourth. Great delivery from Mount, leaving Henderson with a free header. That HAS to do it.

With his assists today, Luke Shaw now has three in this tournament. That gives him the joint-most for an England player at the Euros, tying him with David Beckham, who provided three assists at Euro 2000.

Still plenty of game left, but what a day for England as Que Sera, Sera rings out in Rome. Barring an epic collapse, England will once again be returning to Wembley, where Denmark will be waiting.

And that just might do it. Just moments after Maguire's goal, England have another and its Kane once again!&nbsp; Another headed goal from close range as Shaw loops a ball to Kane, who has a simple header from inside the six-yard box.&nbsp; That makes it 3-0, and that might just be that.

Another quick one for England! This time it's Maguire, who scores just one minute into the second half. Shaw with a fantastic ball into the box for Maguire to head home to make it 2-0. Ukraine with it all to do now.

Raheem Sterling appreciation post

A decent 45 minutes for England, who head to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead. The early goal from Kane certainly set the tone, with England content to possess the ball and try to dissect the Ukraine defence.&nbsp; Ukraine, meanwhile, with some good moments of their own, mostly on long balls. England will certainly need to be aware of the counter and they may need to up the tempo at some point if they want that second goal.

And we've reached halftime!

Shaw breaks through on the left and cuts it back towards Sancho. The recently-signed Man Utd forward spins and fires a shot, which is saved. Assistant's flag goes up after the fact, but Shaw certainly didn't look off on replay.&nbsp;

CHANCE FOR ENGLAND!

Ukraine with a substitution inside 35 minutes as&nbsp;Kryvtsov is off while Tsynakov comes on. With that, it looks like Ukraine will be going with a 4-3-3 formation from now on.

Half-chance there for England on a free kick, which Kane gets a head to. Unfortunately for him, he isn't able to keep it down as it goes over the bar. Decent look, though.

As expected, England with plenty of the ball, although the tempo hasn't quite been there. Ukraine, though, have been a bit more threatening than England would like, especially with the long ball. Their gameplan is quite clear, and has generated one chance so far.

Play is briefly stopped as Ukraine player is down.&nbsp; It's Matviyenko, who appears to have had his foot stepped on by Sterling as they battled for the ball.

First real chance for Ukraine comes from a Walker giveaway. Yaremchuk gets through as he's one-on-one with Stones before firing a shot on goal. Pickford gets a hand to it and pushes it away, but he's furious that there was a chance in the first place.

With Kane's goal, England have now scored inside the first four minutes for the sixth time in a Euros match. Somehow, they haven’t won any of the previous five, including their loss to Iceland in 2016.

That was quick! Safe to say Harry Kane's goal drought is officially OVER. The Spurs man scores inside four minutes after a lovely through ball from Raheem Sterling. Kane is just barely onside as he slides in to lift it over the goalkeeper. What a start for England!

Czech star Patrik Schick did his best to explain what went wrong for his side on Saturday. Speaking to Ceská televize,' he said:&nbsp;"We made a mistake for the first goal, we doubled up on one player with Kali (Tomas&nbsp;Kalas), and the other remained unmarked. There was a mix-up in communication." Vladimir&nbsp;Darida, the team's captain, added that he feels a sense of pride from this team given all they accomplished to make it this far. "There is nothing we should be ashamed of," he said. "We showed good performances, fighting spirit, we fought like the lions on our crest. That was obvious in today's match also. It is a pity we could not equalise, because I believe that it would have turned our way then."

The England lineup in and, while its impossible to please everyone, there are certainly some critics out there. Don't call it a comeback?

When Christian Eriksen was removed from the field in Copenhagen at the start of this tournament, shielded by his team-mates, it didn't seem so much a matter of whether his nation could respond as whether they would be able to. Well, take a look at them now, as they celebrate wildly with the clutch of fans who have made the very long trip to join them. They have offered the greatest tribute they could to the Inter playmaker, and booked themselves into a European Championship semi-final for the first time in almost three decades. Kasper Hjulmand has got his changes spot on this evening for Denmark; slowly, but surely, they have restricted the chances that the Czech Republic have been able to carve out for themselves. They're not quite out of the woods yet, but you get the sense it will take something special to break the Danish Dynamite now.

It is official - Jadon Sancho starts for England in Rome tonight, replacing Bukayo Saka. Mason Mount is also in for the Three Lions, as Gareth Southgate reverts to a 4-2-3-1 formation. Andriy Yarmolenko meanwhile has shaken off his knock sustained in the last-16 and is fit to start for Ukraine.&nbsp;Vitaliy Mykolenko is their only change, replacing&nbsp;Taras Stepanenko.

Having been wrapped in bandages, Soucek will surprisingly continue - though, given his sheer commitment, he probably would refuse to with the game there to chase regardless. Buckle up folks, this could be an absolute stonker of a second half in Baku. Denmark, stung by that response, look to immediately restore a two-goal cushion, but find a corner they earn cleanly defused by Jankto, who breaks down the right flank to force some back-pedal defence. Patrik Schick of course now is the joint-top scorer at Euro 2020, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. He is tied for the Golden Boot as it stands - and could yet win it outright over the Portuguese legend.

Do not adjust your sets, Danish Dynamite fans - you are one half of football away from a semi-final spot at Euro 2020. A superb early header for&nbsp;Thomas Delaney and a cracking close-range finish from&nbsp;Kasper Dolberg a few minutes before the break has put them in the driving seat in Baku - though a slight conern is to be had about&nbsp;Joakim Maehle, the pioneer of that second effort, who just had to have some running repairs from medics for a leg issue. Denmark double their lead with an absolutely outrageous ball! That is witchy stuff from the Danish Dynamite - a spellbinding score!&nbsp;Joakim Maehle nabs the assist with a wonderful delivery, clipped seemingly off the outside of his right boot in from the left flank no less. It hangs brilliantly as it falls towards the right post and&nbsp;Kasper Dolberg is there to crash it home past Tomas&nbsp;Vaclik. What a time to make it two!

Jens Stryger Larsen and&nbsp;Jan Boril come together in a challenge now and both stay down. It looks like the former caught a blow in the back from the latter, and as he came to earth, fell on the back of the Czech man's heel. Both are good to continue, fortunately, and at least they don't appear to be faking it like Ciro Immobile. The Italy man, if you missed it yesterday, feigned injury in the Belgium box angling for a penalty and then promptly sprung back to his feet with Nicolo Barella scored seconds later. That was simulation, surely? We called Italy's performance cynical earlier, and it's hard to argue against that on the basis of that incident.

Can Damsgaard find a present?

Tomas&nbsp;Vaclik did well to get off his line there in the nick of time! Denmark throw the gears and turn defence into attack in the blink of an eye, countering with smooth aplomb through the left wing and middle channel. Stryger Larsen is tipped on the eventual throughball and it is a photo finish between him and the goalkeeper. The Czechs roar back downfield in response, and Holes puts a volley to&nbsp;Schmeichel after Soucek misses a bicycle kick.

Chances at both ends

Ondrej Celustka gets a little nudge in the back as he races forward to meet a free-kick near the right post, and it is just enough to put him off balance as he looks for the header.&nbsp; The Czech Republic are seeking that equaliser with little success so far. Denmark have an hour - and a bit - to see out here. A second goal would go a long way at this early juncture to steadying any nerves.

Barcelona's&nbsp;Martin Braithwaite slips into the Czech Republic penalty area now and finds no-one in a suitable support position. Kasper Schmeichel commits a near-howler as he clears a ball straight to Lukas Masopust now, but the goalkeeper makes quick amends with a fast stop and then a neat save after the Czechs bring in a subsequent corner following a shot by Tomas Holes. Petr Sevcik volleys a chance for the Czech Republic well over the crossbar after a free-kick hands them a promising foothold in midfield. It is a lively game this, plentiful in sparks so far. That early goal has forced the Czechs' hand; they need to chase this game for a result. Oh, that's a chance for Delaney! A looped cut-back falls to the Dortmund man, who doesn't look to be expecting it; he makes a messy connection and bundles it past the right post. That could have been 2-0 with a cleaner touch.

Lively encounter in the Caucasus

To paraphrase a familar saying - and also Bane in The Dark Knight Rises&nbsp;- speak of the devil and he shall appear. Patrik Schick pops up to cut into Denmark's box now and sees an attempted hook shot deflected out for a corner. It goes badly wrong for the Czechs though; not only to they fail to follow up, but Denmark counter at a blistering clip, with&nbsp;Mikkel Damsgaard unable to quite pull a near one-on-one chance around&nbsp;Vaclik down the other end.

Can Czechs Schick to their script?

That's only the third goal that the Czech Republic have conceded at Euro 2020, but it feels like the biggest by some margin, for obvious reasons. Kasper Hjulmand's side look absolutely elated by that. They push through the middle again at pace, and&nbsp;Kasper Dolberg sees an attempted effort from outside the box deflected off-target. Back-to-back corners follow but the leaders can't quite stick this one close enough to trouble their opponents.

It's the dream start for the Danish Dynamite! Thomas Delaney is the man who puts them up inside five minutes of this quarter-final. Teams ready to emerge

Form would suggest that this game is Denmark's to lose. Eight goals in their last two games and a great head-to-head record with the Czech Republic - plus a higher world ranking - suggests they are the favourties on paper. But their opponents had to topple the Dutch to get here - and they won't be satisfied with simply rolling over and letting the Danish Dynamite waltz into the semi-finals at their expense. The void left behind by Christian Eriksen's exit both on-and-off the pitch is one that any side would struggle to fill, particularly a Denmark team for who he is the main creative conduit and star in attack. But his forced&nbsp;withdrawal has only enhanced the Danish spirit, a nation determined to not fail him on the biggest stage of all. The&nbsp;Danish Dynamite couldn't have asked for a more horrific start to their campaign, overshadowed by the collapse of Christian Eriksen after he suffered cardiac arrest in the first half of their defeat to Finland. But since then,&nbsp;Kasper Hjulmand's side have come together in support of their fallen comrade - who, mercifully, looks set to make a full recovery - with a string of superb performances. They led Belgium, much-fancied tournament favourites, at half-time in Copenhagen before the Red Devils rallied for victory, before delivering a&nbsp;cumulative eight-goal haul against Russia and Wales to emerge as free-scoring masters. They'll hope they can put those talents to good use again in Baku today.
