Kompany reveals the mystery of Musiala's collapses

Bayern Munich have broken their silence over the worrying medical condition of their star Jamal Musiala, after coach Vincent Kompany revealed the real reason behind the player collapsing twice during recent friendly matches.

Kompany confirmed that a slight change to the player's treatment plan sparked the crisis, explaining the precise medical condition suffered by the Bavarian side's playmaker.

Musiala (23) revealed earlier this week that he was receiving treatment for a "neurological disorder" that causes episodes which are "temporary, short, but easily treatable".

According to Bayern Munich, indications of the condition were present before the World Cup, and the club knew about them before the start of last season. They had not affected his performance in official matches until now.

Speaking ahead of the eagerly anticipated German Super Cup clash on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund, Kompany explained the details of what happened, saying: "I spoke with Jamal, and he said: no problem, you can say that."

The Belgian coach added: "He made a slight adjustment to his treatment, which caused some side effects. It is completely normal to make changes to a treatment plan. It was the reason he collapsed twice within four days against Leipzig and Heidenheim."

Keen to reassure the fans, Kompany continued: "The initial shock for us was a long time ago, so we are not talking about it much at the moment. We have received far more information since then, and we have made decisions with the help of leading experts. Jamal has everyone's support."
