Kisumu All-Stars 2-2 Tusker: Brewers concede at the death

At Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Tusker FC drew 2-2 with their hosts Kisumu All-Stars in an entertaining Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match.

The Brewers had slipped at the death in their last game against Wazito FC to draw 1-1 and drop two vital points. This time around, it was not going to be an easy task playing a side which had fought bravely despite losing 3-2 to Ulinzi Stars.

Kisumu All-Stars started Saturday's match on a high note trying to get an early goal. It was vital for them to get a positive result to stand a chance of getting out of the relegation zone and avoid being axed to the National Super League for next season.

Michael Owino opened the scoring with five minutes to the half-time break to give the home fans something to celebrate.

However, the joy was short-lived as the 11-time champions drew level two minutes later when Luke Namanda capitalised on a concentration lapse to score his sixth goal of the season.

Neither of the two sides could get another goal in the first half.

Former AFC Leopards attacker Brian Marita thought he had won it for the visitors when he created a goal in the final minute of regulation time.

The hosts had failed to position themselves well allowing the winger to find a way to cross the ball to Timothy Otieno who managed to direct it goalwards.

All-Stars were not ready to let all points go and they levelled a minute later with a quick counter-attack after the restart. Erick Otieno was the hero as he coolly beat the goalkeeper to ensure the spoils were shared.

Tusker are now eight points behind leaders Gor Mahia who defeated Western Stima 3-2.
