Jorginho: Amazing Hazard the best player I've played with

Eden Hazard can add Chelsea team-mate Jorginho to his ever-growing fan club, with the Italy international considering the Belgian to be “amazing” and the best player he has played with.

There has been no World Cup hangover at Stamford Bridge for a man who helped his country to a third-place finish in Russia over the summer.

Hazard was eased back into domestic competition by Maurizio Sarri, with that approach having delivered a series of stunning performances – the most recent of which saw Hazard net a spectacular late winner in a Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool.

Jorginho admits Chelsea’s talisman has looked unplayable at times, with his form placing him in a talent bracket at the very top of the world game.

The Blues midfielder, who arrived in west London from Napoli over the summer, told the club’s official website: “Eden Hazard is someone who every time he touches the ball you feel he’s going to score or pull off an amazing move.

“He’s different to the rest, he has incredible potential and undoubtedly he’s the best player I’ve played with up until this point.

“He’s somebody who can decide a match on his own, he can create something out of absolutely nothing and that gives his team-mates a lot of confidence to give him the ball and to trust him.”

The presence of Jorginho is helping Hazard to flourish, with a £50 million ($65m) addition happy to fill a holding role for Chelsea and keep them ticking over.

The 26-year-old’s last outing saw him record a new Premier League passing record, with 180 played against West Ham, and he believes he has adjusted quickly to the demands of life in England.

Jorginho added: “My position is one that brings balance to the team.

“It’s a position where I’m always playing with one or two touches and I keep the rhythm of the play going.

“It’s about being able to unite defence with attack so the distances between those two blocks are not too far and we keep that compact shape so that we can play with the ball on the floor like the manager wants.

“Before I receive the ball I already know how that play is developing so I’m able to give rhythm to that play. I’m always looking to know what I’m going to do before I receive the ball in order to make my team play better.”

Jorginho and Hazard will have Liverpool in their sights again on Saturday, with the two sides set to be reunited in Premier League competition just three days after the Blues stunned Anfield with a 2-1 win in the Carabao Cup third round.
