Harry Kane injury update: Mourinho expects Tottenham striker to be fit to face Arsenal

Tottenham were lifted by Harry Kane's double in their 2-0 Europa League win over Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday, with Jose Mourinho having played down any concerns that he may not be fit to face Arsenal.

Kane suffered a knee problem towards the end of the game although Mourinho insisted that the injury isn't "anything serious", with the crunch north London derby coming up on Sunday.

Spurs skipper Hugo Lloris, meanwhile, praised the England striker's performance, insisting that he is inspiring the team in what has been a season of ups and downs.

What has Mourinho said?

"[Kane] is doing everything," Mourinho told BT Sport . "He is doing the striker job of scoring goals, the teamwork of creating space and linking play and the extra work not many strikers do in defence.

"He helps us a lot. He has an incredible number of clearances from crosses and corners. We couldn't be happier.

"[The knee issue] I don't believe is anything big. Sunday is a match everyone wants to play in and little things will not stop him. I don't have the feeling it is anything serious."

What has Lloris said?

"He (Kane) is just enjoying his football," Lloris told BT Sport . "As we can see he attracts the ball. [Erik] Lamela did an amazing job [to open things up for] the first goal and Harry was there at the right time to score. His second gives some relief to the team before the second leg.

"We had some ups and downs in the season but we come into an important period now and it is good to feel the players are ready to help the team. If we work well as a team we will give our talent more power to make the difference."

The bigger picture

Tottenham will bring a resurgent attack into the meeting with Arsenal on Sunday, and their comfortable Europa League victory will maintain confidence as they look to pull off a big result against their north London rivals.

Indeed, Mourinho was able to start in-form Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura on the bench against Zagreb, preserving their energy levels for Sunday's clash at the Emirates Stadium.

The outcome of that fixture could be huge as both sides look to secure European football for the 2021-22 season, and a win for Spurs would keep them in the running for a top-four finish.
