Gor Mahia FC coach Dylan Kerr blames the pitch after losing to Thika United

A furious Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr laid blame on the poor playing surface at the Thika Sub-County Stadium after they lost 1-0 to Thika United on Sunday.

Thika United handed Gor Mahia their second defeat in the league this season to revive hopes of avoiding relegation, thanks to a solo strike by Michael Odongo in the 62nd minute.

Kerr refused to address the events that transpired throughout the week after Gor Mahia players failed to show up for training and instead, directed his anger on the state of the pitch.

“I hate this field. I hate this stadium, but that can be an excuse because they (Thika United) played here as well. Unfortunately, we got beaten. I don’t know if the ball was offside or if the ball crossed the line as Shakava claims.

“But we didn’t train much. We didn’t do much. We didn’t look like the Gor Mahia team that I have been associated with throughout the year.”

Kerr was a bit philosophical when asked whether lack of match fitness and the unmotivated squad had anything to do with the lose.

“You are a reporter. Use your knowledge of football. The players tried. They gave it their best but if they don’t want to come for training, they have got to be training at home because they are still contracted with the club.”

Gor Mahia remained top with 71 points and will be resting easy at the summit as they wait for September 29 to be crowned the champions.
