Ghanaian government to support clubs in Caf competitions, says Fianoo

Ghanaian clubs representing the nation in Caf competitions next season need not worry about financial burdens, after the authorities agreed to provide additional financial support to their teams.

"Government has decided to bear the cost for all the away matches of our clubs (tickets and accommodation)," Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman Kudjoe Fianoo told Oyerepa FM.

"This is apart from the $200,000 and $150,000 for the Champions League and Confederations Cup.

"The agreement is to pay for a contingent of 30 players and officials."

Fianoo called on all clubs currently engaged in the Special Competition to use the government’s gesture as motivation to improve the quality of Ghanaian domestic players.

"I will urge every club whether Premier, Division One or Division 2 to try winning their respective competitions to qualify for Africa in order to benefit from the government’s package," he added.

During their Caf Confederation Cup campaign, Kotoko received $150,000 from the government.
