With confirmation that FIFA 19 will indeed have Champions League football, it’s only fitting that EA Sports have secured the return of Cristiano Ronaldo as the game’s cover star.
The Real Madrid star donned last year’s addition but will also be joined by Brazilian star Neymar this time around on select editions of FIFA 19.
Both are being heavily linked to club moves this off season with a chance the duo could even combine in Spain.
Ronaldo has just won a remarkable third straight Champions League title with Real Madrid, and FIFA 19 executive producer Aaron McHardy believes it was only right for the Portuguese legend to feature on the front cover again.
"Cristiano Ronaldo returns as our lead ambassador on the cover of the game which is I think very fitting considering he’s just finished winning the Champions League with Real Madrid for the third time in a row," McHardy told Goal.
"It feels right that he’s back with us on the cover of the game.”
Ronaldo is just one of six players in history to win the Champions League title five times, with only Paco Gento on more with six.
GettyAnother player who has tasted Champions League success is former Barcelona forward Neymar and he will join Ronaldo on select covers of the game.
"Neymar joins Ronaldo on the Champions and the Ultimate editions of our game as a second ambassador for our product and obviously he’s had an incredibly successful year with PSG,” McHardy revealed.
"When you put Cristiano and Neymar together, we’re really happy to have those two guys because they really embody what it means to become a champion which is what we want our ambassadors to represent for us.”
EA Sports FIFA 19 assetsNeymar has incidentally been linked heavily with a move to Madrid with fellow Brazilian Marcelo keen to see him and Ronaldo team up in real life and not just on the FIFA 19 cover.
FIFA 19 releases globally September 28 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
