  • Liverpool enter race to sign Phillips
  • Phillips continues to remain out of favour at Man City
  • Reds wanted to sign the midfielder in the summer

WHAT HAPPENED? The 27-year-old midfielder, who has appeared in just five matches for the Cityzens this season, is reportedly considering making a move away from the club in January in search of regular first-team appearances.

And now, the Mirror reports that Liverpool have emerged as unlikely transfer suitors for the English international and could make a January move for him.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: The Reds reportedly were interested in signing the City outcast during the summer transfer window but they never officially launched a bid for the player. Instead, they added players like Alex Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch to their midfield.
