The Seattle Sounders forward scored in Saturday's Gold Cup semifinals against Costa to match Landon Donovan's all-time scoring mark

Clint Dempsey scored his 57th international goal, pulling him level with Landon Donovan as the all-time leading scorer for the U.S. national team.

Dempsey matched the scoring mark in the 82 minute of  Wednesday's Gold Cup semifinal match against Costa Rica at AT&T Stadium with a curled free kick into the bottom corner.

Donovan tallied 57 goals in 156 international matches from 2000-14, while Dempsey recorded 56 in 136 caps since making his debut in 2004.

Dempsey's first goal for the USA came all the way back in 2005 when he netted in a friendly loss to England. Since then, the former Fulham star has scored in three World Cups, the 2009 Confederations Cup, the 2016 Copa America Centenario and five Gold Cups.  

Making his 136th international appearance on Saturday, Dempsey has also passed Jeff Agoos for third on the national team's all-time caps list.
