Chelsea vs Arsenal Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

A London derby nearly 2,500 miles from the capital takes place on Wednesday evening as Chelsea and Arsenal meet in Baku, Azerbaijan, in the Europa League final.

The game has made plenty of headlines for non-football reasons with the small number of tickets allocated to travelling fans as well as the political situation preventing the Gunners' Henrikh Mkhitaryan from featuring, all generating much debate.

On the pitch there is plenty at stake as well with the Blues looking to end a turbulent season with some silverware, whilst Arsenal need a win to guarantee Champions League football next term.

Arsenal won the most recent meeting between these two sides back in January yet they are outsiders for the final. William Hill offer Unai Emery's side at 2/1 (3.00) to win in 90 minutes and at 11/10 (2.10) to lift the cup.

Chelsea, for their part, are priced at 7/5 (2.40) to win without extra time, and at 4/6 (1.67) to claim the title.

Team news

There are serious doubts around Blues' midfielder N'Golo Kante with the France international picking up an injury in training. Maurizio Sarri is already without Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger.

As well as Mkhitaryan Arsenal are without the injured Aaron Ramsey. Danny Welbeck could be in line for a place on the bench after missing much of the season with an ankle problem.

Preview

The Gunners' 2-0 Premier League win at the turn of the year saw Aaron Ramsey put in an excellent performance in midfield, pressing Jorginho and disrupting Chelsea's flow.

There does not currently seem to be a player capable of replacing Ramsey in that role, as Mkhitaryan perhaps would have been his most likely substitute.

Nevertheless, there are plenty of reasons to think that there could be value in backing Unai Emery's men, not least because the manager himself who has won this competition three times, while his counterpart Sarri is yet to claim a major title.

The loss of Kante is likely to be a huge blow to the Blues, while there is something of an over-reliance on Eden Hazard for creativity from the west Londoners.

Arsenal also have the motivation of knowing a win would secure Champions League football, which is arguably as big an incentive as the trophy itself.

Tips and predictions

Backing the Gunners to win in 90 minutes at 2/1 (3.00) looks like an extremely healthy option but there is a better way to get onside with the north Londoners.

Chelsea have won just one of the last seven meetings between these sides, with Arsenal winning three times as well as three draws, and to that end perhaps Arsenal Draw No Bet at 21/20 (2.05) could be a smarter angle for Wednesday's final.

This pays out in full if the Gunners win the match in 90 minutes whilst a draw sees the stake returned.
