UEFA Champions League final: Tottenham Hotspur's key man - Heung-min Son

Heung-Min Son has delivered some scintillating performances throughout the 2018/19 season for Tottenham Hotspur. The South Korean attacker displayed versatility by performing in multiple attacking positions.

Son has been one of the finest players in the Premier League as well as Champions League and has played a crucial part in his club finishing among the top four teams in the league and reaching the final of the continental competition for the very first time in the club’s history.

The South Korean attacker has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 31 Premier League appearances. He has also netted four times in 11 Champions League games this season.

Interestingly all his four goals came in the knockout phases which makes them even more crucial from the club’s point of view in the competition.

He had scored one against Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 and scored three against Manchester in the two-legged quarterfinal tie. In the first leg at home, Son had scored the all important winner in the 78th minute. In the second leg head scored twice to guide his team to the semifinal.

Son, along with Lucas Moura has done an exceptional job in the attacking third for Tottenham Hotspur in the quarterfinal and semifinal of the Champions League.

The South Korean has honoured the trust shown by his manager this season by consistently performing in important. He had even spearheaded the team’s attack in the absence of star player Harry Kane who had missed several games due to injuries.

He is on the cusp of history as he will be the second Asian player after former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung to win the grand European competition if Tottenham beat Liverpool in the final. While Park was not a part of the Manchester United starting XI in 2008, Son is an integral member of the Spurs side.
