Cedric Bakambu’s brace rescues Beijing Guoan

Cedric Bakambu scored twice to help Beijing Guoan avoid defeat as they held Guangzhou R&F to a 2-2 draw in Friday’s Chinese Super League encounter.

The Imperial Guards' four-match winning run in all competitions came to an end after they shared the spoils with the Guangzhou outfit.

Bakambu, who has now scored in his last six appearances for Roger Schmidt’s men, got the curtain raiser of the tie in the eighth minute.

However, four minutes later, Dragan Stojkovic’s side levelled matter through Eran Zahavi. And in the 75th minute, Zahavi scored his second for the visitors but seven minutes to the end of the game, Bakambu completed his brace to help the Imperial Guards salvage a point from the outing.

Following the victory, the Chaoyang outfit have taken their points to 19 in 10 ties to occupy the third spot in the log.

The 27-year-old has now registered seven league goals since he joined the side in January and will be aiming to continue the fine form when Beijing Guoan take on Odion Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai on May 19.
