Can Ryan become a Liverpool hero against Manchester City?

Brighton's Australian keeper Mat Ryan could inadvertently etch his name into Liverpool history if he's able to keep a clean sheet against Manchester City on the final day of the Premier League season.

With City leading the Reds by just one point ahead of the final match day, a draw or loss against Ryan's side would hand Liverpool the title should they beat Wolves.

That scenario leaves the Socceroos keeper in a potentialy powerful position and it's one he's hoping to make the most of.

"The most surreal thing is having friends and family who are Liverpool supporters and having the opportunity to have such a big influence on history," Ryan said.

"I remember the hype around that City and QPR game those years ago and how the whole world was invested in it.

"It’s nice to be part of that. If we can disturb the party, it would be nice."

While it's been a far from a successful season for Brighton, who have only just avoided potential relegation, they do have a history of frustrating Manchester City at the Amex Stadium.

Ryan's side have lost just one of their last five home games against Pep Guardiola's team in all competitions - picking up three draws and one win during that span.

City have however won their four most recent encounters with Brighton and Seagulls manager Chris Hughton has in fact tasted defeat in eight of his 10 matches against City.

With Brighton struggling across the pitch this season, Ryan has kept just six clean sheets this season and Liverpool fans everywhere will be praying he can make it lucky number seven on Monday morning (AEST).
