Cameroon forward Christian Bassogog pours out heart after Caf decision on 2019 Afcon

Christian Bassogog says he feels for millions of Cameroonians after Caf reversed the decision to have the Central Africans host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament.

The Henan Jianye attacker however, says the development will not affect the Indomitable Lions’ performance. “I took it very badly because it was really a joy and a pride to have Afcon in my country,” Bassogog told Goal.

“I don't want to go against the opinion of leaders because they know football better than us. If they have made this decision, it is because they want the good of Cameroon and African football.

“I feel sad like the 24 million Cameroonians, who wanted this competition to be played at home. We aren't going to stop playing because of this withdrawal.

“We really want to prove to the world that we are a great nation, qualifying for the next African Cup of Nations. I think that would be a very good thing for us.”

Cameroon will however, continue participating in the 2019 Afcon qualifiers despite Comoros writing to Caf seeking the Indomitable Lions’ disqualification citing Article 92 of Caf statutes.
