Brosque thrilled with Sydney's first-half blitz

Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque claimed the Sky Blues specifically plotted a fast start against Perth Glory in order to make a "statement" in their semi-final.

Renowned for overrunning their opposition after half-time, Sydney stunned Perth with a three-goal blitz inside the first 45 minutes at Allianz Stadium as they went on to win 3-0.

While Glory started strongly in the opening 15 minutes, the home side opened the scoring via Josh Brillante's 21st-minute missile and never looked back.

A typically professional second half sealed the victory along with hosting rights for next week's A-League grand final.  

"We wanted to make a bit of a statement tonight with the way we came out and the intent we had," Brosque told Fox Sports.

"It's been a fantastic year and to back it up again tonight after a week off... we had time to freshen up and plan exactly what we were going to do tonight and we did it perfectly.

"We've set ourselves up perfectly now with a home grand final and we'll get the job done next week."

Brosque revealed his 2010 grand final winners' medal remained on his bedside table as a source of inspiration for this year's championship assault.

"I give it a good look every morning when I wake up," the 33-year-old said. 

"It's just reminding me what's at stake and what's there to be won.

"It's a great group, fantastic players, fantastic team. But it is all about the trophy and that medal."

Sydney defender Alex Wilkinson paid tribute to the premiers' depth as they kept their 17th clean sheet of the campaign.

Wilkinson, Brosque and Co. are just one match away from Sydney's second premiership-championship double.

"'Arnie' [Coach Graham Arnold] has done a great job of recruiting at least two players for each position," the centre-back told Fox Sports.

"When you've got that sort of depth, obviously everyone is fighting to get in the team and all of a sudden at training the level lifts and lifts and lifts.

"That's only going to help the first 11 on the weekend."
