The hosts are clear favourites to make it back-to-back wins but we think an improved Vinotinto side can remain competitive, avoiding a heavy defeat

Brazil aim to make it two wins out of two in Group A of the Copa America in the early hours of Wednesday morning when they face Venezuela.

Tite's side opened their campaign with a 3-0 triumph over Bolivia the lowest ranked team in the group and they are short-priced favourites to claim another success against a Venezuelan team that finished 0-0 with Peru in their first match.

Latest odds

William Hill offer a victory for the hosts at just 1/14 (1.07) which is one of the smallest prices we will see in the group stages of this tournament. Venezuela for their part are available at 22/1 (23.00) with the draw at 6/1 (7.00) .

Team news

There could be a change in the Brazilian starting line-up, particularly up front with Gabriel Jesus possibly in line to replace Roberto Firmino. Behind him Philippe Coutinho, Richarlison and David Neres are all likely to keep their places. Venezuela have midfielder Luis Mago suspended after his red card against Peru, while Ronald Hernandez could come in his place.

Brazil have only lost one of their last 27 matches in all competitions (their World Cup quarter-final defeat to Belgium last summer) and their record against Venezuela is particularly strong in the Copa America.

The five-time World Cup winners have won six of their previous seven meetings with La Vinotinto in the tournament scoring 27 goals and conceding just two.

Brazil v Venezuela Betting Preview

In the last few years Venezuela have improved drastically under Rafael Dudamel, shooting up the FIFA World rankings to 33rd place. While they are far from being a match for Brazil, the underdogs are far from the continent's whipping boys they once were. There could be therefore some interest in backing the outsiders with a handicap for their second group game.

Tips and predictions

Venezuela to win with a +2.25 Asian handicap at 81/100 (1.81) looks like it could be an interesting angle. This bet pays out in full if Venezuela win, draw or lose by one goal, while we get a half win in they lose by two goals.

This selection would have left us in profit in six of the last seven meetings between the sides including both of the most recent meetings in World Cup qualfying.

Brazil have only won two of their last 12 Copa America matches by three goals or more and those two wins came against Haiti and Bolivia.
