Brazil vs Argentina Team News

The big news for Argentina is the return of Lionel Messi, who is back in the squad after serving a four-match suspension.

The Barcelona forward should come straight back into the starting 11 and could line up alongside Sergio Aguero, who is also back in the squad having been omitted from international set-up follwing the Copa America.

Marcos Rojo and Roberto Peryra of Manchester United and Watford respectively have had to withdraw from the squad due to injury.

Brazil for their part are missing Neymar, who is once again injured, although Real Madrid teenager Rodrygo has been included after some eye-catching recent performances for his club.

Brazil vs Argentina Preview

This is the third consecutive year that these two sides have met in friendlies on foreign soil, with the previous two clashes in Melbourne and Jeddah respectively being tight affairs.

In 2017 Argentina won 1-0, while last year Brazil were victorious by the same scoreline thanks to an injur-time goal, and in truth neither clash lived up to its blockbuster billing.

On neutral soil, in a non-competitive game, we can expect these two sides to serve up another low-key encounter and despite the talent on display, opposing a high-scoring game could be a logical selection.

Only one of the last six meetings between these two teams has seen over 2.5 goals, while in five of the last six matches a clean sheet has been kept.

Tips and predictions

Backing either side to keep a clean sheet at 1.91 looks a strong option and is a selection which has paid out in seven of the last 10 friendly meetings between these two rivals.
