Bidvest Wits lining up moves for Maritzburg United's Siphesihle Ndlovu and Denis Weildich

Bidvest Wits may have only recently won the Telkom Knockout Cup but they are already seeking out potential targets in order to bolster their squad ahead of the January transfer window.

The Students have experienced a dismal first half of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) season as they find themselves bottom of the log, and coach Gavin Hunt is believed to be eyeing two of Maritzburg United’s key players to iron out their inconsistencies.

Wits have had to contend with several injuries to key players particularly at the back, and reports suggest that a move for the Team of Choice captain Denis Weidlich alongside Siphesihle Ndlovu could be a possibility.

The 31-year-old German-born defender in particular has been an influential figure in Fadlu Davids’ backline and should he complete a switch to Braamfontein, he will certainly give Hunt adequate cover at the back.

However, according to reports if a move does materialise, the duo will not come cheap as Maritzburg are reluctant to let them leave, which could potentially prove a stumbling block during negotiations.

“The problem with the deal could be the money that the club (United) want for the players,” an unnamed Maritzburg official told Isolezwe.

“We want to keep the two players because they are quality players,” he concluded.
