Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men host Manchester City in the Premier League and the Red Devils are 6/1 to pull off a much-needed victory over their rivals

The week's most anticipated Premier League clash comes at Old Trafford as the two Manchester clubs square off on Wednesday night. If United are to dent City's title ambitions, they'll need to defy the odds.

The 6/1 (7.0) quote with William Hill is the largest price that the Red Devils have been to win a home game in the Premier League era, according to the bookmaker.

“The prices for Wednesday’s match are not just a reflection of how good Manchester City are but an indictment of Manchester United’s season,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

“Not even against Bayern Munich under David Moyes were United this big a price to win at Old Trafford.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer questioned whether his players cared enough to play for the club after their 4-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday.

The Norwegian will expect his team to bounce back in style against their local rivals, but their recent form makes for tough reading. United have lost six of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Despite that, the home side will certainly have their share of backers at prices around the 6/1 (7.0) mark. Tottenham are the only team to leave Old Trafford with three points in the Premier League this term and even a draw at 15/4 (4.75) would hand Liverpool an advantage in the title race.

City are just 4/9 (1.44) to complete a league double having won the reverse fixture 3-1 at the Etihad. With 10 straight wins to their name, it’s understandable to see the bookies taking no chances with the reigning champions. On the road though, Pep Guardiola's side have lost three matches in the top-flight this term.

Chelsea were 12/5 (3.40) to win their meeting at Stamford Bridge. Leicester City (8/1) and Newcastle (16/1) were both bigger prices to beat the Citizens compared to the current odds on a United win in Wednesday's derby.

Crystal Palace’s victory at the Etihad Stadium was an even bigger shock, priced at 18/1 (19.0) with William Hill.
