Bayern Munich stopper Jerome Boateng has singled out Sergio Ramos, Gerard Pique and a host of other stars as the defenders he looks up to in world football.
Boateng, 29, is recognised amongst the world's elite defenders for his work with the Bavarians and in the Germany national team.
When pressed on his defensive idols, however, Boateng turned to two Spanish stars.
"Sergio Ramos is not only one of the best because of his many successes, he also scores important goals offensively," he told Sport Bild.
"For the Italians, Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci are world-class, and in France, I like Samuel Umtiti very well, and there are actually a lot of center-backs at the highest level."
