Bayern Munich v Bayer Leverkusen Betting: Back Bavarians to pick up where they left off

Bayern Munich begin the defence of their Bundesliga title with a game against a depleted Bayern Leverkusen side.

The summer has seen Leverkusen lose not only their excellent manager Roger Schmidt but also two of their most important attacking players, with Hakan Calhanoglu and Javier Hernandez joining AC Milan and West Ham respectively.

The BayArena outfit finished last season in 12th position in the Bundesliga are there is little optimism that they will be able to improve much on that finish in the forthcoming campaign.

SportPesa certainly price them as big outsiders offering an away win at 11/1 (12.00) while Bayern can be backed at 20/83 (1.24) and the draw is available at 5/1 (6.00)

Last season, Bayern's firepower at home saw them consistently record high-scoring wins, with the Bavarians netting 55 goals in their 14 league matches at the Allianz Arena. Carlo Ancelott's men averaged just under four goals a game at home and there is little reason to think that they will be any weaker in the final third this season.

The champions are priced at just 20/73 (1.27) to score over 1.5 goals but they can be backed at a much more tempting price of 20/23 (1.87) to score at least three times. This bet paid out 10 times last season in league games at the Allianz Arena and should have a good chance of doing so once more. Leverkusen seem a much weaker side this year than in previous campaigns and they are likely to struggle at the home of the champions.

In terms of a goalscorer bet, Robert Lewandoski has netted in both games than Bayern have contested so far this term in the German Super Cup and the DFB-Pokal and the Polish forward is priced at 10/21 (1.48) to score at anytime, while he can be backed at 39/20 (2.95) to open the scoring.
