Barcelona v Sporting CP: Attacks to thrive as Champions League group stage reaches conclusion

Barcelona have the luxury of going into their final game in Group D knowing that they have already claimed top spot thanks to an unbeaten opening five games in this season's Champions League.

Therefore, manager Ernesto Valverde could be tempted to rest one or two players for the visit of Sporting Club on Tuesday ahead of a tough weekend trip to Villarreal in La Liga.

The Lisbon outfit arrive in Catalonia still in with a chance of making the knockout stages, although to do so they need to claim all three points and hope Juventus to drop points in Olympiakos; nevertheless, the visitors will be highly motivated and they have put in some excellent performances in the group, with only an own goal in Portugal giving Barcelona a slender 1-0 win when they met back in September.
