The Villans are searching for their first Premier League win of the season on Friday night but our tipster is backing a tight affair in Birmingham

Aston Villa are looking for their first Premier League win in over three-and-a-half years when they host Everton on Friday night.

After gaining promotion via the play-offs, Dean Smith’s men have started with two losses this season and face a tough task to get anything from unbeaten Everton.

Latest Odds

Indeed, bet365 make Villa 9/4 (3.25) outsiders to claim their first win top-flight win since February 2016, or 13/5 (3.60) to take their first point of the campaign.

Everton beat Watford 1-0 at the weekend and are 23/20 (2.15) to move top of the table, at least temporarily, with a win in Birmingham.

Team News

Douglas Luiz marked his first Aston Villa start with a stunning strike in the 2-1 loss to Bournemouth last week and should keep his place ahead of Conor Hourihane.

Morgan Schneiderlin is free to be selected again by Marco Silva after serving a one-match ban, whilst Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean will be pushing for their first starts in the blue of Everton.

Everton are the only side yet to concede in the Premier League this season and although that will give their defence plenty of confidence, the Toffees’ attack could struggle.

Silva’s men have netted just once so far and their lacklustre attack have mustered just five shots on target across 180 minutes of action.

Starts for Kean and Iwobi could go some way to changing those unwanted statistics, but there is still little to suggest they will get amongst the goals on Friday night.

Tips and Predictions

Although Villa have conceded five goals in their two games this term, they restricted Bournemouth to just four shots on target at the weekend – with the Cherries’ goals coming via a penalty and a deflected long-range effort.

Smith's side have had no trouble getting shots away this season but their conversion rate sits at 9.5 per cent thanks to a return of just two goals from 21 total shots.

With that in mind, under 2.5 goals looks excellent value at 11/10 (2.10) with bet365 and would have paid out in four of Everton’s last five away Premier League matches.
