Argentina vs Mexico Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Argentina and Mexico meet in a friendly in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday in what will surely feel like a home match for El Tri.

The healthy number of Mexican supporters in the crowd should ensure an excellent atmosphere at the Alamodome and fans of Tata Martino's side have had plenty to cheer recently.

Mexico claimed their 11th Gold Cup title back in July beating the USA, while also recording a 3-0 friendly win over the same opponent last weekend.

Argentina vs Mexico Team News

Lionel Messi remains suspended for Argentina, while the likes of Sergio Aguero and Angel Di Maria have not been included in the squad.

Paulo Dybala and Lautaro Martinez started up front in the weekend draw against Chile and both could feature from the start once more.

Mexico's first-choice striker Raul Jimenez started their win over USA on the bench and he could come in to replace Javier Hernandez up front.

Argentina vs Mexico Preview

Mexico have enjoyed a fine 2019 with the side having won all 11 matches they have contested (although two of those victories came after extra time).

El Tri however have a poor record against Argentina and are winless in each of their last nine games against the South Americans.

Nevertheless with the Gold Cup champions in good form, feeling confident and playing an Argentina side devoid of Lionel Messi, Thursday's game could be a great chance for Mexico to record their first win over the Albiceleste since 2004.

Lionel Scaloni's team have played 10 games so far this year recording five wins and two draws while suffering three defeats and they have lacked any semblance of consistency for some time now.

Against Chile they also lacked a cutting edge in the final third and they will surely be made to work hard by an in-form Mexican team.

Tips and predictions

Backing Mexico to win or draw at 1.67 looks like a tempting option given their strong form and Argentina's less than impressive recent record.
