AFC Leopards 2-1 Bandari FC: Ingwe win to earn sweet revenge against the Dockers

AFC Leopards picked up an important 2-1 win over third-placed Bandari in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played on Sunday.

Goals from Vincent Oburu and Whyvonne Isuza enabled Ingwe to record a first win since August 2018, while Nigerian striker Alex Orotomal netted the only goal for the visitors.

Oburu scored the first goal for AFC Leopards in the 16th minute when the Bandari backline failed to stop Paul Were from getting into their box. Were’s cutback landed on Oburu’s feet and the youngster had enough space to slot the ball past Faroukh Shikhalo.

Oburu wasted a chance that would have given him a double in the 43rd minute when he headed the ball off-target when Were had made an easy run past several  Bandari defenders and placed the ball on his path.

A 50th minute run by William Wadri right from the midfield flopped as he sent the ball way off target when Ingwe's defenders were closing on him.

Orotomal scored the equalising goal for the Dockers in the 57th minute when he poked the ball past Bakame. Ingwe had to blame themselves because they failed completely to clear their area from a Bandari corner.

The ball was played around the area until it reached the former AFC Leopards man, who just needed a slight touch to put the ball into the net.

Isuza scored the second goal for Leopards in the 76th minute when his final shot bounced over Shikhalo. Brian Marita did the donkey work as he waded through the right flank and delivered a low cross that Isuza met to score his seventh goal of the season.

Marita was substituted immediately and his place was taken by Wayi Yeka.

Were failed to stretch the scoreline from Bandari's reach in the 93rd minute after a one-on-one scenario with Shikhalo, but the final score remained in favour of hosts nonetheless.
