2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations will be tough for Nigeria, says Ngozi Okobi

Ngozi Okobi says the 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations billed for Ghana will be tough for Nigeria's senior women team.

The reigning champions are hoping to defend the continental crown they won two years ago at the showpiece and will face Zambia, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea in Group B.

The 24-year-old, whose assist saw Desire Oparanozie net the winner against Cameroon at the last edition will be eyeing her fourth African title on her fifth appearance at the championship.

The midfielder who starred for Eskilstuna United this season believes the women's game has improved in Africa and foresees a more competitive tournament in Ghana.

"I have been to several international women tournaments, including the Africa Women's Cup of Nations," Okobi told Goal.

"But the last edition in Cameroon was different and tough in terms of competition on the pitch and I know this year's edition will be more different and tough for Nigeria.

"I think Africa as a continent when it comes to women's football, they have actually improved a lot and not just Nigeria alone.

"So, I think this year's tournament in Ghana will be more competitive and tough for Nigeria."
