One of the most clinical players Germany has produced, Klose is their highest-ever goalscorer on the international stage.The 2006 World Cup Golden Boot winner made his international debut against Albania back in 2001, scoring in a 2-1 win. Just four days later, he scored his second goal against Greece in a 4-2 win for his country to confirm his reputation as a top-class striker. Termed as a "World Cup specialist", Klose led Germany to glory in 2014 and went on to score a total of 71 goals in 137 games for the national team at an impressive 0.52 goals-per-game ratio.

Winner of the Ballon d'Or in 1970, Gerd Muller was at the peak of his powers when he led Germany to European Championship and World Cup glory in 1972 and 1974 respectively.The Bayern Munich legend made his Germany debut in 1966 and his first goals for Germany came in a 6-0 win against Albania in which he scored four.Muller netted 68 goals in 62 matches for Germany, at an astonishing 1.10 goals-per-game ratio, the best in German football history.

Then Poland national team coach Pawel Jenas ignored him stating "as of today we have much better strikers in Poland and I don't see a reason to call up a player just because he played one or two good matches in the Bundesliga.
