It's been a difficult season for West Ham so far and their recent results perfectly illustrate their struggle to find consistency.

A comfortable win over Forest toward the end of February should have boosted their confidence, but defeats against Manchester United and Brighton quickly brought them back to earth, before they saw off AEK and drew with Aston Villa.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for AEK as they have only managed to win one of their last five encounters.

A 3-1 victory over Paralimni at the start of March was followed up with defeats at the hand of West Ham last week and then Apollon on Monday.

The two sides had never met until the first leg of this tie, which West Ham won courtesy of two goals from versatile attacker Michail Antonio.

• This will be just the second meeting between West Ham United and AEK Larnaca in European competitions after West Ham won 2-0 in the reverse fixture last week.

• West Ham United have never lost a second leg played at home during a knockout stage tie in European competition (W7 D2) and have progressed to the next round in eight of those nine previous instances, only failing to do so in the second round of the UEFA Cup in 1999/2000 against FCSB (0-2 away in the first leg, 0-0 at home in the 2nd leg).

• AEK Larnaca have won just two of their 11 away games in major European competitions (D4 L5) and neither of those two wins came by more than a single-goal margin.

• West Ham United have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three games in the UEFA Conference League but have never enjoyed a longer such run in European competitions.

• Antonio scored both of West Ham’s goals in their reverse fixture against AEK Larnaca, doing so from his only two touches in the opposition box; it was his first-ever brace in a Europe.
