Vinicius had the perfect opportunity to silence criticism about his recent form as he took over penalty duties from Kylian Mbappe and had the chance to give Real Madrid an aggregate lead over Atletico Madrid in their Champions League round of 16 tie. However, the Brazilian smashed his penalty way over the bar. Nonetheless, Los Blancos were able to grab the win in a highly-controversial penalty shootout, and Vinicius then decided to mock Atleti fans by pointing out that the Rojiblancos had 'zero' Champions League titles compared to Real's 15.

After the match, Vinicius continued to mock Atletico Madrid as he posted photos on Instagram and captioned the post: "THERE IS ONLY ONE MADRID!!!! How great it is to be from the best club in the world!!!"

The Brazilian has been in disappointing form so far this calendar year; however, Real Madrid are expected to offer Vinicius a new contract amid reports linking him with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
