The Red Devils flopped spectacularly in the 2024-25 campaign, with the underperforming Premier League heavyweights stumbling their way to a 15th-place finish. They also suffered defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Ruben Amorim’s side are without European qualification for next season, and the embarrassing blows keep on coming. United went down 1-0 to ASEAN All-Stars after jetting out to Malaysia.

Amorim told reporters after that contest, which delivered more jeers from the stands: “I always feel guilty of the performance of the team since I am here in the first game. “I felt when we finished every time the supporters were with us. Let's see for next season. We should perform better. We were slow, we don’t have it in us to win every exercise in training, and every game, the important thing is we had no injuries.”

While Amorim is looking for crumbs of comfort, Amad cut a frustrated figure when making his way through the masses after United’s latest defeat - with the Ivorian winger taking to delivering a middle-fingered salute as he strolled past the crowds.

United have another friendly in Hong Kong to come on Friday, before finally winding down. A busy summer of comings and goings appears to be on the cards for the next transfer window.
