Fraser was appointed as the new head coach of Toronto FC in January 2025 marking his return to the club where he previously served as an assistant coach. “When did my love for the game begin? Well, I grew up in Jamaica and my dad took me to watch the 1974 World Cup. They would show games on the big screen in the national arena and I think I watched maybe three games. Ever since I came out of that experience and then after that it was a rolled-up ball of socks in the living room, under one couch was a goal, and under the other couch was a goal, and somehow I played both teams by myself,” Fraser said.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fraser's comments come at a time when MLS is facing increased scrutiny over its lack of diversity in coaching positions. Despite the league's diverse player pool, the number of Black head coaches remains disproportionately low. He pointed out that when all the right elements come together, including supportive upper management, positive results can follow.
