Toni Kroos launches scathing attack on UEFA, Anthony Taylor and Stuart Attwell following leaked referee's report from controversial handball decision in Euro 2024 quarter-final
Toni Kroos has mocked UEFA after a report said that Germany should have been awarded a penalty in their Euro 2024 quarter-final against Spain.
Germany felt they should have been given a spot kick in extra-time when Jamal Musiala's shot struck the arm of Marc Cucurella. Referee Anthony Taylor did not award a penalty and VAR Stuart Attwell chose not to overrule him. Spain went on to beat Germany and proceed to the semi-final, eventually becoming champions.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Now, a leaked report from UEFA's Referees' Committee on the summer tournament has generated outrage in Germany. The report highlights the Cucurella handball as one incident that should have ended in a penalty, sparking a frustrated response from Kroos.
WHAT KROOS SAID
"It took them three months to realise that there was a handball, something that almost everyone could see in a second. That reassures me a lot (laughs)," he is quoted as saying by Marca. "Can I say that I am now European champion because it has been officially confirmed? I don't think so."
