Tigres and Rayados both seek to sign Ángel Correa – how much would they have to pay for the Argentine player?

Tigres president Mauricio Culebro spoke in an interview with Récord about the interest both Tigres and Rayados have in signing Ángel Correa. Reports initially suggested Tigres had advanced negotiations with the Atlético Madrid player, but Rayados, their city rivals, have also emerged as a team pursuing the 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina.

"Obviously, when we negotiate players and go after certain characteristics, it sparks interest from other teams. Recently (with Rayados), we haven't gone after the same player, but these things happen, not only with the team from this city, but with others as well," said Culebro.

The Tigres executive assured that competition exists both on and off the field: "We always try to do the best we can both on and off the field, and we know that even in negotiations, we have to compete."

The battle for Ángel Correa between Tigres and Rayados promises to be one of the biggest transfer sagas. Both teams have shown in recent years that they spare no expense in bringing in high-profile players, and the Argentine perfectly fits that mold.

While initial reports suggested that Tigres had the upper hand in negotiations, Rayados' sudden interest could change the landscape. Additionally, clubs from Turkey and Argentina have also entered the race, adding more competition for the Atlético Madrid forward.

With a market value of $16 million, any interested team will need to present a convincing offer for both the player and his club. Will Correa stay in Europe, return to his home country, or make the move to Liga MX?

"He is a player who has the characteristics, history, character, and many qualities we are looking for. Of course, both he and other players of that caliber will always be highly desirable, someone we want to have in this institution," the Tigres' president said.

The team coached by Guido Pizarro will visit América Saturday for Matchday 13 of the Clausura 2025. Tigres sits in third place in the standings with 25 points and defeated las Águilas in their most recent match during the Apertura 2024.

Before that victory, the Azulcremas had an 11-match unbeaten streak against Gignac and his teammates.
