    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Szczesny arrived at Juventus from Arsenal in 2017, the same year that Bonucci left to join AC Milan. The former Italy international returned one year later, and the duo played in a total of 139 together for Juventus between 2018 and 2023.

The Polish goalkeeper looked back at his time in Turin earlier this year and had some remarkable memories of Bonucci. “There was Bonucci, who is the exact opposite of us [him and Matthijs de Ligt]", Szczesny said back in September. "He gets pumped up for every match. I was three seats away from Matthijs, and every time Leo went overboard, we’d look at each other and say, ‘No, not again.’ So we’d put on headphones to avoid hearing things. Then you’d talk to someone, and they’d turn around and tell you to ‘f*** off’.”

  • WHAT LEONARDO BONUCCI SAID

Bonucci has now made it clear that his former team-mates have not gone down well with him.

"Yes, I was hurt [by Szczesny's words], also because of the sanctity of the locker room," While speaking to Luca Toni on Amazon Prime Video Italy's YouTube channel.

"I spoke for the good of the team, then when I spoke he wasn't there, he was locked in the bathroom. I won't say what, but he spoke about it too. He also brought up De Ligt but I had a great relationship with him. It was at a time when he left football and then came back, maybe he was confused. I was very surprised by the bullsh*t he said."
